On the peaceful morning of February 15, 2024, after an extended
illness, our beloved Louis Major, Sr., took his last breath and
transitioned from this life into the arms of the Lord. Louis Major,
Sr., lived a full, happy life. He was a master carpenter, an expert
fisherman, and an excellent farmer and gardener. He was an active
member of the TA Milledge Masonic Lodge #97. He cared a great deal
for his family and was always an enormous provider, wanting them to
have and always do their best. During the 81-year journey of his life,
he made it known that he was a believer in the Gospel and had faith in
the Lord. Additionally, he loved music, tapping his feet and moving
to the rhythm. Towards the end of his journey, his health began to
fail, and he lost interest in the things he once loved, but his love for his
family and their well-being remained strong. He continued to show
great compassion, and he received great compassion in return.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: devoted wife of 17 years,
Joyce Latrese Major; 12 dedicated children: Jacquline (Roxell)
Lawrence, Betty (Michael) Robbins, Louis (Nita) Major Jr., Virginia
(Eric) Golden, Carlene (Kevin) Hunter, Patricia (Vincent) Taylor,
Rodreguis Major, Carlos (Michelle) Reason, Monica Reason, Jamon
Major, Sharelle Mosley, and one stepson, Kenregus Hunter; one sister,
Annie Louise Bowen; one niece, Carolyn (Melvin) Gordon; and a host
of 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Robbie Lee Walker; father,
Booker T. Major, Sr.; brother, Booker T. Major, Jr.; and a son, Curtis.
