John Hawkins Obituary

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, God called one of his soldiers home to

rest.

John E. Hawkins, known to his family and friends as “Hawk,” was born in Augusta, Georgia, on December 3, 1961, to the late Mr. Timothy and Pearlie Lee Hawkins of Sylvania, Georgia.

John attended the Screven County School System and was a graduate

of Screven County High School, class of 1981.

At an early age, John joined Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until the end. John is most remembered for his volunteer work throughout the community and his dedicated service as a Deacon at Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church. John also enjoyed fishing, sports, and caring for his family.

John worked at Georgia Pacific (G.P.) as a machine operator until he retired.

John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Pearlie Lee and Timothy Hawkins, Sr., and his sister, Loretta Hawkins, along with other loved ones.

He leaves to cherish his memories: the mother of his children, Willie Mae Hawkins of Sylvania, Georgia; one son, Earl Jonell Hawkins of Sylvania, Georgia; two daughters, Shatana Kemp and Bethea Gregory, both of Statesboro, Georgia; three brothers, Timothy (Barbara Jean) Hawkins, Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida, Adam (Bernadine) Hawkins of Sylvania, Georgia, and Conflix (Nephateria) Hawkins of Savannah, Georgia; three aunts all of Florida; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, extended family, church members, friends, and the community at large.
