Mr. Jessie Jenkins, Jr., was born to the late Jessie
Jenkins, Sr., and Lear Davis Jenkins on December 31, 1937.
Jessie was educated in the Screven County School system. He was
employed as a construction worker for many years and held various
positions throughout his life.
He enjoyed farming and fishing, and one of his most enjoyable
pastimes was singing the blues, whether it be the original version
or one he composed himself.
He was one of 14 siblings. He was preceded in death by Rosa James
Robert Jenkins, Elease Dukes, Sippie Jenkins, Sr., Martha Lucille
Doe, Easter Jenkins, and Tommy Jenkins.
Jessie loved the Lord, and one of his many phrases that he kept
close to his heart was, “The Lord will take care of me.” On October
26, 2021, the Lord gently filled that promise and called him home.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: a devoted wife,
Margery Lewis Jenkins of Sylvania, Georgia; four children, Willie
Arthur Jenkins, Rose (Thomas) Roland, Steafon “Steve” (Brenda)
Jenkins, and Christopher Jenkins, all of Daytona Beach, Florida;
eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four loving sisters,
Catherine Johnson, Robbie Lee Scott, Anna (Jonathan) Barnes,
all of Sylvania, Georgia, and Clayzell Bartley of Rincon, Georgia;
three sisters-in-law; two bothers-in-law; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends.
