One stormy day in March, Mama was rushed to Kings County
Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Where baby girl Finney was born
on March 21, 1933 to Sade and Henry Finney who both preceded her
in death. She was later named Jeanette by her brother’s wife, after the
actress, Jeanette MacDonald. Her sister-in-law also called her Stormy
Weather. Jeanette was raised in Jamaica Queens, New York, and went
through the public school system there.
At an early age she met and married her earth angel, Deacon LeRoy
“Sonny” Fieldings, and from this Union, two children were born,
Linda Joy and David Levi.
Midlife, she connected with Merrick Park Missionary Baptist Church
under the leadership of Bishop Curtis and Dr. Millicent Norton, where
she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She received her Christian
training, answering the call and was licensed as an Evangelist in 1983.
She was very active on auxiliaries and president of the Daisy Norton
Nurse’s Unit.
Preceding her in death was her earth angel, Deacon LeRoy “Sonny”
Fieldings on August 29, 2003; brothers and sisters, Rachel Evans
Goode, Mary Evans, James Evans, Lillie Finney, George Finney; and a
loving daughter-in-law, Alicia (Head) Fieldings.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Linda Price Leeks (Walter);
son, David Levi Fieldings; daughter in
the ministry, Jackie Chama Koon; six
grandchildren, Shanese “Necey” Price
of Sylvania, Georgia, Jonathan, Joshua,
Jessica, JoAnna and Joseph Fieldings
of Randallstown, Maryland; two great-
grands, Trinity LeJoy Price of Sylvania,
Georgia and Jace Kai Fieldings of
Randallstown, Maryland; and a host of
other grands, great-grands, great-great-
grands, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and
friends.
