Iris Reddick was born to the late Effie Scott Reddick and Herbert
Reddick, Sr., on January 7, 1947, in Oliver, Georgia. Iris was called
home on Saturday, January 6, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Iris received
her education in Screven County and after finishing school she moved
to Brooklyn ,New York for a short while. She returned home and then
moved to Chicago, Illinois where she worked and lived for over 40
years. She was employed by the post office and worked there for over
35 years. Iris later returned home to Statesboro, Georgia.
While in Chicago, she had her baby brother Johnson there to help
with anything she needed. Living in Statesboro, Johnson and her
nephew Wesley were her helpers in cooking and
taking care of her.
Iris has four sisters that preceded her in death, Annie Lee Reddick,
Bessie Mae Reddick, Shirley Young, and Beaulah Johnson, and one
brother, Herbert Reddick, Jr.
Iris leaves to cherish her memories: a loving brother, Johnson Reddick,
and a devoted and caring sister-in-law, Evangelist Rose Reddick. Iris
also leaves Wesley Jackson and Jermaine Reddick, two of her nephews,
who helped care for her, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
