Reflection of Life
Donald Winston Pennington Sr was born on March 1, 1948 to the late Herman E. Pennington and Eloise
Willis-Pennington in Gary, Indiana.
He graduated with honors from Roosevelt High School, Gary, Indiana in 1966. He graduated with
honors/dean’s list from Wiley College; Marshall, Texas with a B.A. in Sociology. He later attended Purdue
University Northwest in Hammond, Indiana where he received his Master’s in Education.
He worked as a Social Worker with the Department of Human Services. He became a teacher with the
Gary Community School System where he taught for 25+years. He taught Math, Spanish and Special
Education.
He was predeceased by his Grand Parents: Joseph Pennington & Commenzie Dobbins and Annie & Morris
Willis. Parents: Herman and Eloise Willis Pennington. Sisters: Audrey Matthews and Janice Pennington.
Brother: Leonard Pennington.
He is survived by: two sons Donald (Stephanie) Pennington Jr and Ronderrick (Kimberly) Pennington.
Brother: Harold (Addie) Pennington Sisters: Wilberteen Houston, Verneita (Rodney) Coffee; Indianapolis,
Indiana and Herma (Charles) Drake; Toledo, Ohio. Three Grandson: Donald Pennington III, Dylan
Pennington and Adrian Pennington. Eight nieces, six great nieces, six nephews, five great nephews and
great-great nephew. He also leaves a host of cousins and friends that loves him dearly.
Final rites have been entrusted to Cooper's Memorial Funeral Chapel of Sylvania, GA
