Darlene Ghant was born July19,1951. Her parents Bertha Knight , Reverend Willie E. Jones and Annie L. Jones preceded her in death. Darlene was educated growing up in the Philadelphia public school system. As a young adult Darlene met Fred Causey and together they brought their daughter LaTrice Jones into this world. In later years, Darlene relocated from Philadelphia to New Jersey where she met and married Warren Ghant. (m.1979-2002). Her time in New Jersey was some of the happiest moments in her life. Darlene moved back to Philadelphia and lived her life to the fullest. She loved to attend affairs and catch broadway plays and shows. She was a great lover of the arts. Darlene loved to live, laugh and love. Her laugh was infectious. She adored her friends and her family. She was a dedicated friend and she was fiercely loyal to her family. As life changes so did Darlene. She moved to Georgia and this forever changed her life. Darlene gave her life back to the Lord and became a devout Christian. At this time she joined what soon became her family church. Abundant Truth Ministries. She was a loving and dedicated member to her church family. Everyone who knew her knew she loved her church family dearly. Under the teachings of her pastors Pastor Richard Evans and Pastor Rosalind Evans she learned many things. Darlene was a mighty prayer warrior. While in Georgia, she went back to college and obtained 3 degrees. She became a teacher and a great educator to children. She started a reading program as well as performed herself , as a character she created named “ Miss Cabbage Waller” where she read stories to children. Darlene was beyond talented. Those were just some of her many talents. “Education is the key” was one of her favorite sayings to her family. She believed strongly in education. She trained her daughter and grandchildren to feel the same way. After Darlene retired from the Georgia educational system she continued to pursue her own education and received her Masters Degree in 2021. She not only talked about it , she was about it.
